Wilson Tennis 2024 Racquets Review

18th Apr 2024

Spring is officially here! As Vermont’s largest tennis retailer, we are proud to carry a variety of racquets and accessories for memorable hours on the court. One part of our extensive inventory our staff are particularly excited about is the latest line of Wilson racquets.

Wilson Blade 104

The Blade 104 is a combination of control and feel. A 104 inch head size, 27.5 inches in length, the Blade 104 is an extended-length racquet. The extension of the length and the overall size of the head provides greater power than most other racquets. While it’s a larger racquet, 10.2 ounces it's still lightweight and maneuverable. The Blade 104 is an ideal racquet for someone with a counter-punching defensive style of play.

The Clash 100 is an all-rounder racquet with a combination of good feel, comfort, and a plush string bed. This racquet weighs 10.4 ounces with most of the weight in the handle and the throat. If you have any issues with tennis elbow, this is the racquet for you.

Wilson Shift 99

The Shift 99 is a new iridescent racquet this season and designed for a player looking for added spin in their game. The Shift 99 is 27 inches long with a 16 by 20 string bed. With a fairly open string bed, this racquet is very stiff end to end and fairly flexible latterly side to side. So the ball pockets in on the string bed quite nicely, adding increased dwell time and added spin potential. If you have heavy topspin and slice a lot in the back end, the Shift 99 is a great option for you.

Pro Staff X

The Pro Staff is one of Wilson’s longest-running models, the Pro Staff X features an increased 100 square-inch head and 11.1 ounces in weight, making it a fairly heavy racquet. The Pro Staff X is designed for players who have a very solid technique and know they can handle that amount of weight in their swing. What also distinguishes the Pro Staff X from the other Pro Staffs is the larger head size makes it more forgiving and you don't have to be quite as precise on finding the sweet spot. Overall that makes this the most approachable racquet in the Pro Staff line.
